Sunday Treat

What could be better than Dane's ice cream on Sunday evening?

(For all those who were at the Beachy picnic, we did stop after leaving the park. Had I known we would do that, I would have taken one of those yummy mint brownies for the road!)

The little things

It's been a while for one of these posts...sometimes the little things in life make you smile the most. Like trying on your cousin's sunglasses.

Parading

For the 4th of July we went to the Wellman parade. For a small town, the parade is pretty good. It poured in the morning, so they postponed the parade a few hours to allow time for the rain to move through the area. It sprinkled only a little bit by the time the parade started. Because of the rain there weren't nearly as many people lining the street. Which meant more candy for us...which is actually a bad thing now that I'm a parent and am not crazy about my kids eating pure sugar!

The umbrella was abandoned the minute the parade started!

Jesse wasn't too sure what we were doing sitting on the side of the road. That is, until the fire trucks came through. Then he couldn't get close enough to the road to watch them.

I shared the secret of getting parade candy with Meredith: you get more candy if you wave at people!

Of course no parade blog would be complete if you didn't have a picture of the empty road...

and kids waiting for the next thing.

And waiting.

And waiting!
(Yes, we were towards the end of the parade route so sometimes the waiting got long.)

So now we have 2 gallon size ziplock bags of candy. Does anybody want some?

Baseball

So...did you miss me? I hadn't intended to take a 3 week break, but I guess I just got too involved in my summer to take time out to blog. But I'm back now.

The IMS baseball team lost in districts, so we have no more baseball games to go to. In spite of the work it takes to go to the games with 2 kids in tow (and all the paraphernalia that goes along with) we were very disappointed that the season came to such an abrupt end.

In honor of the team, here are some pictures from one of the games.

Can't wait until next season...

Welcome, Brianna

We were so excited to hear of the birth of Kent's niece's daughter, Brianna Nichole Sky, born on July 16th. (Does that make Kent a grand-uncle?) She looks like such a sweetheart - I just want to kiss her chubby little cheeks! :)

Congratulations Ashley, we can't wait to see the adorable little bundle in person!

An evening at the baseball field

All summer long Jesse has wanted to "ride" on the tractor mower that they use on the baseball field. I finally arrived at a baseball game early enough to get a good spot that was right by the tractor...and the concession stand. That kept the kids occupied for...oh...at least 2 or 3 innings!

Beat the Heat, Take 3

Yet another way that we beat the heat and the astronomically high humidity last week.

Swimming at my sister Beth's house. My sister Kristen and her 2 kids plus one friend were there, as were Beth's 2 girls plus another friend. We had so much fun cooling off in the pool.

Jesse got to play in the pool instead of taking his afternoon nap. So he was a bit sleepy. Can you tell? I think he was just dozing here - his eyes would open up just a bit every so often.

Beth, how warm is the pool today? Can we come over to play?
