For the 4th of July we went to the Wellman parade. For a small town, the parade is pretty good. It poured in the morning, so they postponed the parade a few hours to allow time for the rain to move through the area. It sprinkled only a little bit by the time the parade started. Because of the rain there weren't nearly as many people lining the street. Which meant more candy for us...which is actually a bad thing now that I'm a parent and am not crazy about my kids eating pure sugar!
The umbrella was abandoned the minute the parade started!
Jesse wasn't too sure what we were doing sitting on the side of the road. That is, until the fire trucks came through. Then he couldn't get close enough to the road to watch them.
I shared the secret of getting parade candy with Meredith: you get more candy if you wave at people!
Of course no parade blog would be complete if you didn't have a picture of the empty road...
and kids waiting for the next thing.
And waiting.
And waiting!
(Yes, we were towards the end of the parade route so sometimes the waiting got long.)
So now we have 2 gallon size ziplock bags of candy. Does anybody want some?
